If you have a child between 3-9 years old the Adams Trail-A-Bike is one bike accessory you will love. It will allow you to introduce your child to cycling.
The Adams Trail-A-Bike easily converts a bike into a child friendly tandem. Riders can pedal at different speeds in different gears. It connects to the seatpost on the adult's bike and is designed to allow the bike to turn around corners and go over bumps easily while keeping the Trail-A-Bike in a stable upright position.
It can be hard for a young child to think about shifting, braking, steering and pedaling at the same time. The Trail-A-Bike is setup with a 5 speed shifting system. It uses a Gripshift shifter with a Shimano rear derailleur. Shifts are clean and easily made by the child. The pedals are wide and grip well. The alloy rear wheel is strong and light.
The handlebars are fully adjustable. The angle and position can easily be changed to fit your child. Other features include a gel saddle, a rear fender, water bottle holder, safety flag, and a quick release seatpost.
REVIEW: This thing is great!!! It takes just 30 seconds to connect to my mountain bike and my 4 year old can go with me on most any bike ride. We often do 30-40 mile rides at a time. We have taken it on single tracks, fire roads, and paved streets. Even my 6 and 8 year old boys love it, as it is a good way to teach them traffic safety. A great feature of this model that others did not have, is that it folds in half and easily fits in the car. Also has a U-joint that helps with stability on tight coners.
Our trail-a-bike has been used and abused and has held up to the mountains of Mammoth and Lake Tahoe and the deserts of California. A must have for all active parents.
