A) No. Mopeds have an Automatic Transmissions.
Q) Are mopeds legal to ride in bicycle lanes.
A) In most states yes, But laws can vary so check your local DMV regulations.

Q - Is a moped suitable for carrying two people ?
A - Mopeds are intended to be ridden by one person. Acceleration and handeling are adversely affected when carrying two riders. However, certain models are available with long bench seats and footpegs for that occassional passenger. The Tomos Revival model is designed for two.
Q - Are mopeds safe to ride ?
A - Yes. Mopeds offer a variety of features that enhance rider safety Including :
1) A bright light system that allows you to see the road ahead while being visable to others on the road.
2) A sealed drum brake system that does not fade in wet weather.
3) Wide tires,shock absorbers and a low center of gravity
created by the engine weight that increases rider stability.
4) Easily manuverable. 30 mph top speed.
5) The ability to drive in bicycle lanes and avoid competing with cars for space on the road.
6) All brake,lighting and speed controls can be operated while keeping both hands on the handlebars. There is no need to be taking your eyes off the road when performing these operations.
Q - How much assembly is required if I buy a moped online ?
A - Most mopeds come almost fully assembled. The buyer normally must install turn signals,headlight,handlebars, check the transmission fluid, inflate tires ,adjust cables and add gas and oil. These jobs can vary somewhat from one brand to another and can be accomplished with common household tools.
Q - What do I do if my moped requires service ?
A - Sportsbay offers free telephone or online assistance for our customers.
Service manuals are available to assist customers with at home maintenance.
Local repair sources can include moped retailers, motorcycle shops and small engine repair businesses such as lawn mower repair.
Q - What do I do if I my moped needs a part?
A - Contact Sportsbay customer service and order the part you need.
Q - What maintenance does a moped require?
A - As a general rule - not much. Keep the tires inflated
to the proper pressure, lubricate the cables occassionally,
change the transmission fluid every 1000 miles.
Q - How durable is a moped and how long will one last ?
A - This is determined by how the owner uses and maintains the moped. The most mileage we have seen on a moped is 50,000 miles. The engine was a little noisy but it still ran well. We have customers that are riding mopeds that were sold over 25 years ago.
Q - What are the reasons for the price differences between brands.
A - Manufacturing quality, features and and the level of after sale support provided.
It is not uncommon to hear customers tell of how the bargain price moped they purchased doesn't run well and the place they bought it from can't help them fix it.
Low price should not be the only consideration when buying a moped.
